This was sent to me on Twitter today (thank you, Route!) and I thought I'd post it here. It looks like it's for some kind of charity/non-profit organization. I'm not sure what, but if anyone can find anything out, please share! I'll update if I find anything, as well.

Just saw this. Tried going to the thisisourmoment.org and it went to their youtube channel. Guess we'll find out on the 28th? I kind of feel like this is a bully awareness campaign.

Does anyone know if the cast of Shameless were in L.A. to do the telethon? It seemed like tons of celebrities were helping on the phones.

Eh... honestly, this campaign kinda gets my back up, for a number of reasons.
1. Charge it to the POLLUTERS! (no more jets and limos and foreign-made designer clothes for you well paid celebrities, I assume) 2. EVIL COUNTRIES THAT KILL OUR PEOPLE! (we NEVER kill any of theirs) 3. Oil. Money money. Oil. We don't like someone being bigger than us.

Thanks for sharing, Brooke! It's up on the main site, too. www.nrdcactionfund.org/thisisourmoment/Personally, I really liked the PSA. I know it may seem hypocritical for some celebrities to partake in these things, because of the things they are associated with, but at least they are doing something about it, and rallying to try to get people to realize that, hey, we can make a difference here and make a better world.

Actually a lot of the celebs in the vid do make the attempt to be green. At least enough of an attempt to know that their hearts are in the right place. I know that Emmy drives hybrids, recycles and is involved with several emvironmental charities. Forest Whitaker is an outspoken vegetarian. Edward Norton is a trustee and supporter of several environmental causes and political campgains to back them up. And Leo DiCaprio has a solar powered home, hybrid cars, and refuses to fly on private planes. He produces documentaries and operates a foundation that create numerous educational materials regarding environmental issues.
But more than that it makes a decent point in a simple, easy to understand way. We DO have a hypocritical relationship with several middle eastern countries. How can we declare war on a country and then say "wait, we need you for something?" The bottom line is that no one loses by us reducing our dependence on oil. We spend less money, we aren't dependant on nations we are at conflict with and we all have cleaner air, better water and a sustainable planet.

Thanks for the information lostgirl. I totally agree with you and idolette on this. I definitely agree with Lucille on her second point. They could have left that out. Countries and groups funded with corporate and CIA money - like the Taliban in the 80's, Iraq and Saddam when they were at war with Iran, and also the Bin Ladens in Saudi Arabia.

I am proud of what Emmy is trying to accomplish with the cap and trade bill, the most ambitious attempt yet from the United States to come up with a solution to catastrophic global climate change. I won't bore you with my conclusions on the upcoming challenges, suffice it to say I am very sorry these challenges will affect you folks more than me, as I can reasonably expect only 20 more years left in my lifetime. Sadly, I have also concluded that the system of government in the United States is hopelessly gridlocked. The forces that prevent change are far more powerful than the forces that advocate change. Indeed, this lethargy goes beyond government and is now deep in the American social structure. Perhaps another, more dynamic country will take over leadership on this issue. Still, I intend to contribute to the fund that will enable the video to be shown as a commercial on American television. Good night and good luck.
